LIVE UPDATE -- SANTA FE CROSSINGS

The board did not approve a 5-year time extension for the Santa Fe Crossings project at Santa Fe Avenue and Geer Road near Hughson. The owners received approval in 2007 for mini storage, truck repairs and retail businesses. Hughson's city manager said the development will hurt Hughson businesses and create in the future an unincorporated county island in Hughson. The site is in Hughson's general plan area. The proposal failed to get the required three board votes when Supervisoer Jim DeMartini voted "No".
